Rhubarb Upside-down Cake

As promised, a picture of the Rhubarb Upside-down Cake made by my wife, Janice, the No1 pudding maker! It tasted as good as it looks! The recipe is courtesy of Sarah Raven’s ‘Garden Cook’ book which has become an all time favourite with us. The book is set out into months of the year and gives the most delicious recipes according what can be harvested from your plot in those months. Highly recommend it! Off to lunch round some friends today so l doubt very much if l will be fit to do too much in the garden by the time we return!

Hi Trevor, thanks for your comments (I have posted a response, if you have time to look I would be most grateful).
Thanks for the info on Sarah Ravens cookery book. I have often contemplated purchasing this. I have Nigel Slater’s Tender which is a similar idea and I find it most useful. The pudding looks lovely… has Janice shown your French neighbours just how well the English can bake?!

Ha ha. Yes she has. Her English trifle goes down a storm and everyone wants the recipe! I’ll have a look at your response. Have you watched Nigel’s latest series on the TV. I think he is trying too hard. Its not comfortable watching him anymore. Unlike the Delicious Sophie Dhall!

Hi Trevor, I have found a lot of TV cookery programs have lost their way of late. Most of them are trying to be just too romantic. I consider myself a romantic daydreamer but even I have tired of some of the latest TV offerings. Which is how I found myself reading blogs in the first place as I was drawn in by the refreshing honesty and homeliness of seeing what real people were doing in their kitchens and gardens. I still love buying their books though! Good for Janice!
